This whole process of scamming works on that a person gets a phone call or an email to inform that they have won a big lottery prize but to avail that they ask for personal information or a certain amount of fee. If the person agrees to pay the fee, the scam artist, convinces to mail a cashier's check, or make an electronic funds transfer, or even arranges a meeting to get the money in cash. If the person agrees to provide personal information, the scam artist can commit identity fraud.
