The Michigan Lottery came into existence with the Green Ticket game on November 13, 1972. The first $1 million lottery prize was won by Hermus Millsaps of Taylor, Michigan on February 22, 1973. Daily 3 was introduced with other Terminal based games which commenced on June 6, 1977. Following Daily 3, the Daily 4 lottery was introduced in 1981. On August 13, 1984, the first “Michigan Lotto” was introduced by the lottery. Following them, Mega Millions and Fantasy 5 joined the club in 2002 and 2004 respectively. In 2019, the Michigan Lottery introduced the Double Play draws for both Fantasy 5 and Lotto 47, where-in an extra draw is held after each main game-draw and non-jackpot prizes are doubled. The revenue generated from the sale of lottery tickets is transferred to the State General Fund, which is further divided among a variety of programs and initiatives of the State.
