A single ticket sold in Pennsylvania matched all the six numbers in the Powerball drawing held on Wednesday night. This means there is a lucky person in Pennsylvania who is holding a ticket worth $206.9 million. The winner has the option to have a cash payment of approximately $122.4 million.
The winning Powerball ticket was sold at Sheetz located at 205 North Center Avenue in New Stanton. The retailer will receive a bonus of $100,000 for selling the winning ticket.
The Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko stated in a press release that "The Pennsylvania Lottery congratulates the big winner and our retailer for selling this big Powerball jackpot-winning ticket," also "Thanks to our network of almost 10,000 retailers and players across Pennsylvania, over the past 50 years the Lottery has been able to fulfill its mission of responsibly generating funds for programs that benefit older Pennsylvanians."
As per the reports, the $206.9 million jackpot prize is the fifth Powerball jackpot won this year, with a previous jackpot winning ticket sold in Vermont, almost a month ago. That is the first time in history that a jackpot ticket was sold at a Vermont Lottery retailer, with a huge prize worth $366.7 million.
The winning Powerball numbers for Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2022, were 9, 21, 56, 57, and 66, with Powerball number 11, and Power Play multiplier - 2. While one PA lottery player bagged it all, there was nobody who matched the first five white balls to win the $1 million second prize.
But there were 18 lottery tickets that matched four white numbers plus the Powerball to win $50,000.
Out of these, 5 tickets were purchased with the Powerplay option, rolling the prize to $100,000, and 3 of the tickets were sold in California, where the prize was worth $12,465 for this drawing.
The next Powerball drawing is scheduled to take place on Saturday at 10:59 pm Eastern Time with the jackpot amount resetting itself to $20 million again.
