The Oklahoma State Legislature, in 2003 approved the lottery proposal for its presentation before the people. In 2004, the proposal was accepted, which lead to the creation of the Lottery Commission and a Lottery Trust Fund.
The official Oklahoma State Lottery began its sales of lottery tickets in 2005, and soon celebrated its first Powerball winner in 2006.
