History
On August 26, 1971, the Pennsylvania Lottery was established with the enactment of Act 91 of 1971. Initially, the proceeds of the lottery were targetted to provide property tax relief for the seniors of Pennsylvania. Since it’s establishment the lottery has funded programs including rent debates, the low-cost prescription drug programs PACE and PACENET, long-term living services, free and reduced-fare transit, and the 52 Area Agencies on Aging, including full- and part-time senior centers across Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Lottery is the only state lottery that targets all it’s proceeds to the seniors or the older residents of Pennsylvania. The Pennsylvania Lottery joined the Cash4Life club on April 7, 2015. Since then, the lottery has produced a considerable number of Cash4Life winners.
