It was in 1986, Florida voters authorized a lottery through a constitutional amendment, enacted by a two-to-one margin that would use the lottery’s proceeds to enhance public education in Florida. The lottery fever swept all over the state and the players enthusiastically embraced new games resulting in many of the ongoing favorites like Florida Lotto, Cash4Life, Fantasy 5, etc. To date, Florida Lottery remains the largest contributor to education in Florida. More than $1 billion, each fiscal year has benefitted schools and colleges across the state of Florida. Throughout the years, the Lottery has become a part of the very fabric of Florida affecting the lives of people all across the state and providing them with a reason to believe their dreams which can come true like millions who enjoy winning the lottery jackpot. Only a single drawing machine is used with balls numbered from 1 to 36. The matrix was 1 to 39, before July 16, 2001. The machine draws five balls. If you match all the five balls in any order, you win and share the top prize of $200,000. The roll down feature was modified on September 15, 2008. On a surprising note, on August 28, 2012, 98 people won the Florida Fantasy 5 jackpot.
