Thanks to Senator Ron Mottl who started a campaign to begin lottery in Ohio in 1973. Finally, in 1973, voters approved Ohio Lottery Commission and hence it began. Lottery profits are solely transferred to education. Pick 4 started on April 9, 1981, and is contributing to generating education supplement revenues since then. It started as a once-a-week drawing game. Gradually, Pick 4 expanded to twice-daily draws and Sundays draws as well.
