As per the rules by Montana Lottery, your original winning ticket is the only valid receipt for prize claims.
Your lottery ticket is a bearer instrument, which means anyone who possesses the ticket is the winner.
It is mandatory to double-check your numbers and sign the back of your ticket for authentication.
You can claim your Montana Lottery prizes before the deadline, i.e. 180 days from the date of the drawing, else your winnings will be fortified.
Prize claims for any amount can be mailed to the Montana Lottery’s prize center.
If you are mailing your winning ticket, it is mandatory to complete the claim form and attach a copy of your signed government-issued ID card (including driver's license, U.S. passport, passport issued by a foreign government, social security number, etc.) and send it all.
Before mailing the winning ticket, ensure you possess a photocopy of all the documents, including claim form and the winning ticket for a valid proof.
The lottery authorities are not responsible for mail, tickets, or claim forms that are late, damaged, misdirected, misaddressed, incomplete, or illegible.
Prizes more than $5,000 are subject to Federal tax of 30% and State Tax 6.9% withholding at the time of claiming.
Prizes $599 or Less
Prizes $599 or Less can be claimed at any authorized Montana Lottery Retailer.
You can also claim lottery winnings up to this amount by visiting the Montana Lottery Office.
Lottery winnings $599 or Less can also be mailed by filling out the claim form available at the official site and send it to the Montana Lottery Office mailing address.
Prizes $600 or Over
Prizes $600 and above should be claimed at any Montana Lottery district office or Montana Lottery Headquarters.
Winnings can also be mailed to Montana Lottery for claiming.
Claims through the mail should fill out a claim form supplied by any Montana Lottery office or available on the official website.
You have to present two forms of identification as valid proof.
Fill the back of your winning ticket, complete the Winner Claim Form mail it to the below mentioned Montana Lottery P.O. Box address along with your signed original winning ticket, and copies of your valid government-issued photo ID and social security card.
