Two lucky grandparents, after scanning their Lotto Max ticket a number of times on the Ontario Lottery’s official app, made an extra trip to the retailer for verifying the numbers once again of their Lotto Max ticket, which actually made them crack the $70 million jackpot.
Dedicated lottery players Marc Millieur, and his wife Dorothy-Ann, finally got their efforts paid off after winning the lottery jackpot on February 26, 2021. Each of them used to buy their own lottery tickets and never missed any Lotto Max draws. Marc used to opt for Quick Picks and Dorothy liked to play her favorite numbers based on birthdays and anniversaries.
It was Marc’s confidence in the Quick Pick method with the numbers 11, 17, 19, 22, 27, 31, and 40, that changed the world for them. The 60-year old retired mechanic scanned his lottery tickets the night after the draw using the lottery’s app and there it was "you win $70,000,000" on the screen. Not believing his eyes, he checked the tickets five more times to look at the same message.
After believing what he saw, Marc straight away went to the bedroom and told Dorothy, “I think I have the winning ticket”, but his wife thought he was joking. So he again scanned the ticket in front of her to show a $70 million win on the screen.
After verifying the winning numbers a number of times through different methods, Marc and Dorothy had to cross-check the numbers, so they headed out to the Mayer Services Esso gas station on David North Street from where Marc bought the ticket. After waiting for everybody to leave, they approached the owner, who is also a dear friend, asked him to validate the ticket through the lottery terminal. And as soon as the terminal exclaimed "Winner", the couple was crying in awe and just could not control their emotions.
According to the lottery, the winners are settling into reality and the new-found wealth will change the lives of their clan. The couple plans to purchase a new home in the Sudbury region, buy a new truck and an RV to tour Canada, and help various charities and institutions they feel close to.
