A tasty meal of cheeseburgers came with a grand prize worth $1 million when a North Carolina lottery player treated himself and his best friend to lunch on Wednesday.

This week, Kevin Poole of Franklinville decided upon buying his friend a meal at a local grill and after bagging a $1 million win from a scratch-off game, he had absolutely no problem in signing off the check.

Poole told the North Carolina Lottery that, "the electrician I work with bought me to lunch yesterday," and since he bought it for him yesterday, Poole bought one for him that day!

While they were at Don Lee's Grocery and Grill on N.C. 50 in Willow Spring to have a snack, Poole picked out a "$10,000,000 Colossal Cash" scratch-off ticket for $30. The lucky customer said they had really good cheeseburgers, and after they finished eating and the delicious onion rings, he scratched off the lottery ticket.

It was a really delightful way to end a savory meal. After scanning the lucky ticket with Lottery's mobile app, he was directly instructed to visit Lottery Headquarters in Raleigh. And that very day, he claimed the prize as a lump sum of $600,000 rather than a $1 million annuity of $50,000 a year over 20 years, taking home $424,509 after federal and state taxes.

On collecting his newfound wealth, Poole exclaimed, "I'm over excited now!" The delicious cheeseburger, North Carolina Lottery winner wishes to build a new house, a motocross track for his sons to ride on and buy more land.

Now when Poole has claimed his lottery prize, there are four out of 24-second prizes of $1 million left in the "$10,000,000 Colossal Cash" game. And the good news is that there is just one top prize of $10 million remaining out of the six originally available at the game's launch in August 2018, as well as six out of 30 third prizes of $50,000 left.
