After being persuaded by his daughter to try his luck at winning the $1.2 billion Powerball jackpot in November 2022, a Virginian father who had almost decided against playing the lottery went on to win $100,000.

Salvador Gomez nearly skipped the Nov. 2, 2022, Powerball drawing, but his daughter insisted that he participate, and he ended up taking home a $100,000 prize.

When the possibility of winning a massive $1.2 billion Powerball jackpot had lottery enthusiasts all around the nation giddy with anticipation, Gomez was uninterested. However, his daughter had different ideas.

She said to the Virginia Lottery, "I got him to play. I purchased the tickets after receiving some cash from him.

She went to Spencer's Express on Centralia Road in North Chesterfield and purchased a total of seven Powerball tickets.

By the time the entire world learned that a single ticket in California had won the Powerball jackpot, which was then $2 billion, they had also learned that they had been holding onto a $100,000 winning ticket the entire time.

Their ticket included four matching numbers plus the Powerball number, which was drawn on November 2, 2022. The numbers drawn were 2, 11, 22, 35, and 60, with the Powerball number being 23. That would typically result in a third-tier reward of $50,000, but Gomez's daughter added an extra $1 to purchase the Power Play option, increasing his prize to $100,000.Gomez responded by saying he intends to support his family and even go on vacation with the winnings.
