Ireland Lottery funds unclaimed €16 Million, to help battle against COVID-19. The money is released in response to the unprecedented spread of novel Coronavirus that has encapsulated the whole world and is severely impacting the global health and economy.

It was Mr. Paschal Donohoe, who had announced that this funding from the National Lottery is to assist the government in battling the deadly virus. The funded money will directly get transferred to the health sector which is in a shattering state, as the virus continues to spread.

Donohoe stated that he is really pleased that these expired prizes are available to support important investments in the health crisis due to COVID-19.

€5.5 Million funds were raised as good causes since the operations of the lottery commenced. The revelation of funding was done at the Governments daily Coronavirus briefing on Wednesday. At the same time, Liz Canavan warned the public of an increase in online fraud during this emergency situation. The unclaimed prizes have become a source revenue for the operators totaling to about 2 percent of annual sales which equals to €16 million a year.
