The Multi-state Powerball lottery now features a jackpot that can provide multi-generational wealth to the player who bags it all! After the 33rd consecutive drawing without a winner on Saturday, the jackpot has increased from $489.6 million to a grand prize of $550 million for Wednesday's drawing, which in turn will become the 9th largest jackpot amount for the game and 13th largest in the U.S. history of lottery jackpots.
Both Powerball and Mega Millions are surging up in a much-aligned manner swelling to unusually large amounts at the same time. Since 2018, for the first time, the combined value of both Mega Millions and Powerball is greater than $1 billion. Together, the million-dollar games are offering a total of $1.15 billion in this week's drawing, attracting a whopping amount of lottery ticket purchases.
The winning numbers for Saturday's drawing were 14, 26, 38, 45, and 46, with Powerball number 13 and Power Play number was 2. Although nobody bagged the jackpot, 2 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $1,000,000 prize, 1 hailing from Florida and 1 from Pennsylvania. None of the second prize tickets were purchased with the Power Play option, which would have doubled their prizes to $2 million.
68 Powerball tickets matched four white numbers plus the Powerball and won $50,000. Of these 18 were purchased with the Power Play option, increasing the prize to $100,000 and 4 were purchased in California where the prize was $37,117 for this drawing. The amounts won in California differ from the rest of the country because the state awards all prizes on a pari-mutuel basis.
The next Powerball drawing will be held on Wednesday at 10:59 p.m. Eastern Time. Hurry up! Grab the tickets and mark your winning numbers today!
