The Mega Millions Ticket Sold In Pennsylvania Wins $516 Million Jackpot

After rolling over 26 drawings without a jackpot winner, the 27th drawing of Mega Millions produced a single $516 million winner last night, with the only ticket sold in Pennsylvania, matching all the five numbers plus the Mega Ball number.

The Big Winner will now have to make a decision on the payment choosing between being paid $516 million in 30 annually increasing payments over 29 or the lump-sum cash value of $349.3 million.

According to The Lottery Lab's Tax Calculator, after all the taxes paid, the winner will either receive $301.3 million by the end of 29 years, or $209.4 million in lump-sum cash value.

The won jackpot is the 18th largest Mega Millions Jackpot of all time in the United States, and the 15th largest with respect to the cash value awarded.

The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven at 2760 Trenton Road in Levittown, which is Northeast of Philadelphia in Bucks County. With the winner walking home with a grand jackpot, the store will also receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.

This is the third and the largest Mega Millions jackpot ever won in Pennsylvania since the state joined the game back in 2010. On May 20, 2014, a Pittsburgh man won a $149 million prize. Also, a Virginia truck driver won a $153 million jackpot on his route in Pennsylvania on July 21, 2015.

The Mega Millions winning numbers for Friday's grand drawing, i.e. May 21, 2021, were 6,9,17, 18, and 48, with Mega Ball number 8, and Megaplier number 3.

Feeling bad that you didn't win the jackpot? Well, the Mega Millions has 8 more prize tiers to help you win secondary lottery prizes. But unfortunately, not even a single ticket won the second prize of $1 million.

In total, more than 1.7 million tickets won prizes across all the nine tiers of the game for Friday's drawing. With the jackpot on Friday, the next Mega Millions jackpot estimate is reset to its starting value of $20 million! Start strategizing on which numbers to bet!
