The Tennessee Lottery started selling its lottery tickets in 2004. The Lottery is run by the Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TELC), which was created by the Tennessee General Assembly on June 11, 2003. The TELC stands responsible for the operations of the lottery and is deemed to act in all aspects for the benefit of the people of Tennessee. Since its establishment, the Lottery has generated over $5.25 billion for educational programs. More than 125,000 students, each year attend higher education institutions, benefitted from the state lottery scholarships and grants.
