Wednesday’s Powerball drawing was a big day for lottery players as we learned the winning number for the third largest jackpot winner in the US history of the lottery jackpots. The lucky numbers for the jackpot worth $768.4 million were 16, 20, 37, 44, 62, and the Red Powerball 12. The winning ticket was sold in Wisconsin and there is a single winner of the Wednesday draw. The jackpot surged from an estimated $750 million due to strong ticket sales. The estimated lump sum payout for the jackpot after taxes is $477 million.
This was the first Powerball jackpot win of the year and the jackpot rolled over for consecutive 25 draws. “It’s going to be a very green spring for our first Powerball jackpot winner of 2019,” said Powerball Product Group chairman and New Mexico Lottery CEO, David Barden. “A jackpot of this size can make many dreams come true, not just for the winner, but for all Lottery beneficiaries and the lucky state of Wisconsin.”
Don’t throw your ticket away just because you didn’t buy your ticket in Wisconsin. There are eight tickets that won $1 million and another two scored $2 million. Therefore, look at your number, you might be holding a winning ticket.
You can play Powerball in 44 states except for the six states- Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Mississippi, Nevada, and Utah. This is Powerball’s second-largest lottery jackpot after the $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot won in January 2016. That jackpot was shared by winners in California, Colorado, and Tennessee. This is the third largest jackpot in the US lottery as the second-largest lottery jackpot is Mega Millions worth $1.537 billion in 2018.
A woman from South Carolina claimed the Mega Millions cash prize single-handedly. South Carolina is one of the few states that allow anonymous prize claims, therefore, the winner of the second-largest prize is anonymous. If you are the winner of the third-largest jackpot, we advise you to take your time, sort things out and then come forward with your legal-team to claim your winnings. $768.4 million is a lot of money to manage!
