There's always a first time for everything!

For the first time in history, the winning Powerball jackpot ticket was sold in Vermont, as per the Vermont Lottery officials.

The lucky ticket was sold in Middlebury, at the Short Stop gas station on Court Street. The winner of the Powerball ticket has not stepped forward yet to claim the huge sum. The winner has an option of spreading out the $366.7 million over 30 years or choosing to take an immediate cash payout of $208.5 million.

As part of the lottery rules, Vermont would receive 6% of the proceeds from the payout in taxes, which, if the winner accepts his money in an annuity, will come out to a total of $32 million. But looking back at the previous wins, 60 of them chose to receive their money in cash, with the last winner choosing annuity in 2014.

Also, the retailers who sell winning Powerball tickets, receive bonuses for prizes worth more than $500. Moreover, they receive 1% of the proceeds, which would be $3 million in this Powerball win, except that bonuses are capped at $30,000.

In a press release, Shawn Bartlett, general manager of Jolley Associates, stated that "You can't win if you don't play," "It's good to see someone have a Jolley day."

According to the game rules, the Powerball Jackpot requires you to match six numbers in order to win, giving the player a 1 in 292,202,338 chance of winning. The winning numbers drawn for this Wednesday's win, were 8, 40, 49, 58, and 63, with Powerball number 14, and Power Play 3.

Celebrating this grand victory in Vermont, the Deputy Commissioner, Andrew Collier, also released a press release stating, "The Vermont Lottery is thrilled to have our first ever Powerball Jackpot winner in Vermont. This is an exciting win for Vermont lottery players, the Education Fund, and the state."
