How to Play Powerball

Powerball lottery is a multi-state lottery that costs $2 per play. Players need to select five numbers from 1 to 69 and one number for the red ball, 1 to 26. The jackpot for the lottery starts at $40 million and keeps on rolling until someone wins! During the pandemic, the multi-sate lottery jackpots were cut down from $40 million to $20 million addressing the decrease in sales.

There are nine ways for players to win the prize. The overall odds of winning Powerball is 1 in 24.9.

Powerball Playing Options

  • Ask for a Playslip from the retailer and mark your desired numbers on it, or
  • Skip the Playslip and ask for Quick Pick to let the computer pick lucky numbers for you!
  • Select whether you want to add the Power Play.
  • Then select the next draw or multiple consecutive draws.
  • Sign your ticket and keep with you until the draw.

Power Play

The Power Play feature is a way to multiply your non-jackpot winnings. You need to ask for Power Play with your Powerball ticket purchase for an additional $1 per play. The multiplier is selected randomly before each play. This feature can multiply non-jackpot prizes by 2, 3, 4, 5, or 10 times!

“Remember that 10X multiplier is only in play when the advertised jackpot annuity is $150 million or less. “

Double Play

Double Play is the newly launched add-on feature that gives its players another chance to match the Powerball numbers in a second drawing with a top cash prize of $10 million for an additional $1 but only in a handful of jurisdictions. Namely, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, and Washington. So, now you have the chance to bag an additional jackpot prize worth $10 million for just $1, why miss such an opportunity.

You can play the same set of numbers for multiple draws by selecting the consecutive drawing you want to play.
